RPG announcements, updates, news, and new releases
Another week comes to an end, and it’s time to look at everything that has happened and what’s new to try in RPGs, Strategy games, and Roguelites. Needless to say, I’m eagerly awaiting the April arrival of Eiyuden Chronicles, which I remind you will be part of the Xbox Game Pass.
My mind is set on this right now, but anyway, there’s something interesting to try this week as well and some exciting announcements to share. Let’s start.
A release window for super-heroes tactical RPG Capes
We talked about the new trailer of Capes last week, and we open the weekly recap with it again because Spitfire Interactive and Daedalic Entertainment, alongside the trailer, announced the release window for their super-heroes tactical RPG set for a May 2024 launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, and various PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

The game is described as appealing to XCOM fans, offering team-based strategic play, leveling up heroes, and a storyline set in a dystopian city controlled by supervillains for the past twenty years.
Fantasy Strategy 4x Songs of Silence on Kickstarter
Chimera Entertainment announced the Kickstarter launch for their strategy 4X game, Songs of Silence, on March 26, following a popular pre-registration period. The game will debut on Steam Early Access on May 23.
Songs of Silence promises a unique blend of classic strategy elements with new innovations, featuring fast-paced campaigns, dynamic combat, and Art Nouveau visuals. It has already gained attention and accolades, including an award at Digital Vikings for Best Upcoming Playable Game.
Grand Strategy Game Terra Invicta arrives on Xbox Game Pass
Terra Invicta, a grand strategy game by Pavonis Interactive (Famous for its XCOM Mod), is coming to PC Game Pass via the Game Preview program on March 26, 2024. The game dives into an alien invasion scenario, splitting humanity into seven factions, each with distinct goals and playstyles, ranging from forming a united defense to worshiping the aliens.
Available in multiple languages, Terra Invicta is currently in early access on various platforms, with its inclusion in Game Pass marking a significant milestone.
Tactical Stealth Cybergrid Runner Now Available
Cybergrid Runner is a strategic, turn-based stealth game set in a cyberpunk city developed by Shuffle Studio. Released on March 19, 2024, it challenges players to navigate a 5×5 tile system, avoiding detection and collecting upgrades while tackling procedurally generated levels for high replayability.

This game blends puzzle elements with a tactical approach, emphasizing stealth and strategy over brute force. Players can collect weapons and cybernetic implants to aid in their missions.
New Card-Battling RPG Announced
Inti Creates has announced Card-en-Ciel, a card-battling RPG set to be showcased at PAX East 2024. The game stars Neon, a gaming detective, who embarks on a deckbuilding RPG adventure with over 300 cards.

Players will explore dungeons, strengthen their decks, and utilize unique cards, including special Muse Cards that trigger powerful abilities through songs. The game, which promises deep combat and strategic gameplay, will be available on PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. No release date has been announced yet.
Strategy RPG Astral throne announce a new demo
Indie studio Zero Sun Games invites strategy and RPG enthusiasts to explore Astral Throne with a new demo on Steam, launching on April 4, 2024. The game, blending roguelite progression with turn-based battles in a high fantasy setting, offers a unique take on SRPGs.

Described as a mix between classics like Fire Emblem and roguelites such as FTL, it promises strategic depth and a rich narrative. The game is praised for its in-depth mechanics and handcrafted combat scenarios, aiming to become a genre landmark.
Deckbuildind RPG Across The Obelisk Launches on Consoles
Across the Obelisk, a roguelite deck-building RPG by Dreamsite Games, is now available on Nintendo Switch and will be coming to Xbox and PlayStation later this year. It offers a unique cooperative multiplayer experience, allowing players to form parties and play together across all platforms.

The game is known for its dynamic gameplay, customizable heroes, and diverse card options, promising a fresh adventure with each playthrough. All DLCs released to date are also available.
Isometric CRPG Broken Roads Announced the Release Date
Finally, we have precise details about the release date of one of the most promising CRPGs out there. Broken Roads, the post-apocalyptic RPG by Drop Bear Bytes, is launching on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on April 10th, with a Nintendo Switch version soon after.

Set in Australia, it features exploration, strategic combat, and a unique morality system influenced by player choices. The game boasts over 400,000 words of dialogue, promising a rich, narrative-driven experience.
Maliki Novels Turn-Based RPG Announced
Maliki: Poison of the Past, a turn-based RPG set in the Maliki graphic novel’s universe, is announced for Switch and PC. It focuses on survival against a plant monster, Poison, altering space-time. Players, led by Maliki, use time manipulation in combat and explore past worlds to restore the continuum.

The game features strategic battles, temporal riddles, and a unique graphic style, blending French visual culture with Japanese chibi aesthetics. Here is our overview.
4X Strategy Game Revival: Recolonization ready to leave early access
Revival: Recolonization, a 4X strategy game, is set to leave Steam Early Access, launching its version 1.0 on April 11, 2024. Players can explore a post-apocalyptic world, facing dynamic challenges like weather changes and zombie infestations.

The game allows for in-depth customization and strategic planning, featuring a special demo limited to 40 turns to showcase its features, including unique emissaries, new units, and an enhanced event system.
John Wick vibes with knights and magic….
Knights in Tight Spaces is a turn-based deck-builder game that evolves from its predecessor’s modern-day, John Wick-inspired vibes (Fights in Tight Spaces) to a fantasy realm of knights and magic.

This sequel builds upon the original gameplay, introducing a party system where players manage a team of characters, each with unique cards and abilities, adding depth to the strategic combat within a grid-based arena. The narrative loosely follows your character’s journey, recruiting allies with distinct skills to navigate challenging encounters.
Sci-Fi 5x Strategy Game Release Date
Nexus 5X, previously known as Stellaris Nexus, is redefining the 4X genre as a 5X game by adding EXPRESS to the usual Explore, Exploit, Expand, Exterminate formula. Designed for fast-paced, competitive multiplayer sessions that last about an hour, it offers a rich, strategic experience set in the Stellaris universe.

Players can expect to command their species from its first foray into interstellar space, aiming to dominate the galaxy. The game, set for release on April 18, 2024, is currently available in Steam Early Access.
Complex Alchemy RPG BattleJuice Alchemist Now in Early Access
BattleJuice Alchemist is a complex alchemy RPG that combines classic action RPG mechanics with a unique item and skill system, now available in early access. The game features isometric combat, JRPG-style fights, exploration, and crafting.

Players will delve into a dark world, fighting demons and crafting powerful potions to aid their journey. Check out the game on Steam.
New Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Release Date Shifted
The release date for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance has been moved up to June 14, 2024. This eagerly awaited RPG from ATLUS will allow players to explore the underworld of Da’at a week earlier than initially planned on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, and Steam.

This installment promises a complete Shin Megami Tensei V storyline experience, with added new plot elements, areas, demons, and music, all enhancing the game’s combat system for a smoother and more immersive RPG adventure.
SRPG Reverse Collapse Now Available
Reverse Collapse: Code Name Bakery is a tactical RPG by MICA Team, set 30 years after Girls’ Frontline. It features an AU agent and a mysterious girl battling URNC forces, emphasizing classic tactics, over 60 campaign stages, and an immersive story.

Released on March 21, 2024, it offers a deep narrative with revamped graphics and new mechanics. Check it out on Steam.
New Visual Novel JRPG-Inspired Announced
Symbol of Sacrifice, a Fantasy/Sci-Fi visual novel RPG, melds high fantasy with sci-fi in a story driven by player choices. Set in Alezia, it follows heroes facing a family tragedy and a journey towards redemption, offering choices that branch the narrative into three distinct paths with unique encounters, locations, battles, and endings. A demo is scheduled for Steam in May 2024.
Try this Zelda-Inspired Roguelike Demo
Lord Ambermaze is a Zelda-inspired, turn-based dungeon-crawler by Potata Company, available for demo on Steam. It emphasizes strategic movement, as the game world only progresses with the player’s actions.

The demo introduces game basics, the first biome’s secrets, several enemies, a boss, and upgradeable skills and abilities.
Let’s close down with The FRONT MISSION 2: Remake demo, which is now available on Nintendo Switch. It offers players a sneak peek at the first two levels, a customization garage, and limited network access. Save progress will carry over to the full game.

The story revolves around the People’s Republic of Alordesh, facing civil unrest after an economic decline, leading to a coup. The game features strategic turn-based combat, Wanzer customization, and a modernized presentation.
