Hexarchy – Steam Next Fest Preview

Amwald

Steam Next Fest is here, and that means hundreds of demos for upcoming indie games. Hexarchy, the deckbuilding 4X title from Main Tank Software, has been my drug of choice this time around. With multiplayer and daily challenges unlocked on the demo version for the duration of the event, it's a great time to check out this exciting strategy game.

King Arthur Knight's Tale

King Arthur: Knight’s Tale Preview

Amwald

Neocore Games, the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor and The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, are taking their grimdark style of tactical gameplay to the Middle Ages this March. Players will build their castle, manage their court, and set out on quests to save Britain from King Arthur. Yes, you read that right - despite his name being in the title, the legendary King Arthur is the bad guy in this one.

Citizens

Citizens – Overview

Amwald

This April, gamers will be treated to a perplexing, puzzling city-builder from Redkar Limited. Citizens challenges players to start with an empty, forested island and construct a safe, bustling city within a given number of turns. Sometimes it's enough simply to reach a point of self-sufficiency; other times, you'll need to trade with other islands and fend off attackers to ensure your people's prosperity. With its colorful graphics and relaxing medieval music, Citizens is a chill game that's entirely capable of stumping you.

Sword Legacy: Omen Pc Turn-based Game

A twist on the legend of Uther Pendragon – Sword Legacy: Omen – Review

Amwald

Just recently, we've taken a look at some grid-based tactical games to play while waiting for Triangle Strategy. One game on that list - Sword Legacy Omen, has really caught my eye. Developed by Firecast Studio and Fableware Narrative Design, it purports to be a twist on the legend of Uther Pendragon - father of King Arthur. While not a game-changer, this 2018 title is a fun journey that doesn't take too long to get through - ideal for waiting out that last week before the anticipated release.

Blood Bowl 3

Another season of the Old World’s favorite pastime begins… – Blood Bowl 3 – First Look

Amwald

I've been playing Games Workshop's tabletop games for almost twenty years now, and while they certainly have their flaws they're always fun to play and full of flavor. Blood Bowl, their Warhammer spinoff where the conflicts of the Old World are resolved in a violent death sport rather than on the battlefield, is one of their longest-standing classics. I recently had the opportunity to participate in the closed beta for the third iteration of Blood Bowl's digital version by Cyanide Games, getting an early look at what works - and what doesn't.

Humankind: Cultures of Africa DLC Review

Amwald

Amplitude Studios held its anniversary celebration this week. Being the first Amplified event since the launch of their much-anticipated Humankind, it was inevitable that the focus would be on that game. Fans were treated to Humankind's first DLC, Cultures of Africa, along with some other juicy content. Today we'll be taking a look at the DLC itself, as well as touching on some of the free features added with Humankind's January 2022 update.

Reverie Knights Tactics

A gorgeous tactical RPG – Reverie Knights Tactics – Review

Amwald

Reverie Knights Tactics is the debut title from Brazilian studio 40 Giants Entertainment. In this gorgeous tactical RPG, players command a small squad of fantasy fighters on a rescue mission to an occupied city. It's not all grid-based combat, though - there are plenty of story decisions to be made, locks to pick, and puzzles to be solved on your journey.

Top 5 Turn-Based RPGs & Strategy Games of 2021 – Amwald’s picks

Amwald

It's been a pretty good year for games, altogether. Sure, there were some high-profile disasters that made headlines in gaming media - the GTA fiasco, the advent of NFTs, Activision Blizzard - but those of us who just want to chill and enjoy turn-based games have a lot to be happy about. A few titles, in particular, rose above the rest; here are my picks for the best turn-based games of 2021.
